Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress, who is employed in both film, television as well as theatre. Contractor, born in Mumbai in India, was raised in Nigeria from the time she was seven. She was already exposed to numerous travel experiences and different cultures at a very early age. From the age of seven through nine, she attended boarding schools in London. Her family relocated to Toronto and she resided there for most of her childhood. Contractor trained and eventually became a dancer of classical style in Toronto. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts - a specialized arts high school where she was able to study not just dance but also drama. Contractor began her acting career at 16, following nearly 10 years of dancing. After graduating high school, she was awarded a full award to at the University of Toronto, where she completed a masters degree in the field of theatre, and a double major in sociology and psychology. Following a year at University, Contractor went to an open audition for the play Pericles at the world-class famous, world-class Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and got the lead role. The production she appeared in were praised by Canadian critics. The actor was invited to take part in the conservatory, where only eight males and four females are selected to take a crash course of 20 weeks on classical theater which she was eager to take. The role was secured for Contractor for the following season of shows She was also offered Hermia's character as Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
